iZone Low Down

Dean Owens, The LC's Fitness Team Leader, tells us how the first few months in the iZone have been going...
Hi everyone!
The iZone has proven really popular so far. The area is for 11-15 year olds but the team are having trouble trying to keep our adult members off the equipment too (You know who you are!). The Expresso Bikes in particular are hogging all the action; with over 30 different routes to try and being able to register your times on a global leader board through www.expresso.net, everyone has become really competitive and is trying to beat the fastest times in the world! They are really addictive, once you start you forget you're exercising and try to power your way to the front of the pack!
The team are really enjoying inducting new members too because they get to show members how fun and interactive the equipment is by racing against each other! Plus they're constantly trying to beat their score on the Batak Wall which is our reaction trainer that the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button use to improve their reaction times on the race track. The top score so far is 91 by Dan but he’s got a lot of work to do to beat the world record of 152 points in 60 seconds!
The iZone classes have really taken off and I think we might need to extend the time of our dance mat classes because members are staying on an hour after the class has finished!! They’re all trying to get to the top of the leaderboard on www.fimtracker.com to see who the best dancer is, dance off's are a common occurence!
The equipment is really easy to use and the iZone has been a real breath of fresh air; I'd have to say my highlight is being ranked 201st in the world on the Expresso bike 'Broken Spoke' track! It really has been a great month in the gym since the iZone opened. We've had some great news this week too - From this week you can link your Facebook and Twitter profiles to www.expresso.net so you can challenge friends to a race and your times will automatically be posted on your status updates!
Me and the rest of the gym team are really looking forward to the next few months to see who can beat the in house records, who the best dancer is and of course how many people improve on their personal best scores, after all it's about keeping fit as well aa a healthy bit of competition!
Hope to see you all in the iZone soon!
