Have you tried Ballates?
It’s new and it’s right here at the LC Swansea. We like to keep up to date and our newest class has proven very popular.
Is that a typo?
No! Ballates (not Pilates!) is a blend of ballet, Pilates and other fitness inspired movements. This class not only burns fat and calories but tones and elongates your muscles. Don’t worry, there’s no ballet experience required to enjoy this dynamic and graceful class.
What can I expect?
Throughout the class a mixture of the above are done, usually starting in the centre of the room - at times light weights are used to focus on arms and add more of a challenge to the exercise and postures. The focus of the warm-up is to align the body so the correct muscles are activated in order to hold your balance and develop co-ordination while getting the heart rate up and warming the muscles.
The next section is at the barre. Here, ballet movements are focused on and this is where the real hard work and challenges begin. The barre section finishes with a good stretch and then it’s on to some conditioning of the body and stomach. This can increase flexibility and can help ease back ache.
What do I get out of it?
As with Pilates – the list of benefits from Ballates is extensive, but to name a few…
Smoother and more toned feel and appearance to your legs
Less back ache
Improvement in the tone and strength in your arms and shoulders
Stronger stomach muscles
Sounds good doesn’t it!
So, if you’re looking for a new challenge, but one without high intensity exercise, try out one of our classes - Thursdays at 5pm - you’ll soon start reaping the rewards.
