Bay Leisure Ltd
Bay Leisure Ltd is an independent not for profit company set up to manage the LC on behalf of the City and County of Swansea. Bay Leisure has a 10 year lease to operate the LC, which started in March 2008. Bay Leisure Ltd. also operates Simply Gym, located in the Swansea Enterprise Park.
The company has a board of 11 non-executive directors who are all voluntary. There are 2 council members of the board. The rest of the board is made up of local professionals from different business sectors. The board meets once a month.
The LC Team
Nic Beggs – General Manager
Nic is the new General Manager of the LC and has worked for Bay Leisure since its creation in 2007. Nic moved to Swansea from England over eight years ago and has always worked within the leisure sector. Starting fresh from university Nic worked for Saga Holidays for six years travelling the globe looking after Saga customers on both land and water. He was fortunate to see most countries over this period from Auckland during the America’s Cup to Thailand in the rainy season!
More recently he was heavily involved as General Manager in the opening of Playfootball (a two million pound state of the art five a side football centre) in Treboeth where he put the foundations into a thriving business before moving to Bay Leisure as the LC opened. Nic is a huge sports fan and loves anything that involves a racquet or ball of any kind, although now he is having to get used to watching and not doing so much, you are more likely to see him out on the golf course when time permits. Nic feels very strongly about the LC and wants to continue to grow the flagship leisure complex in Swansea to new heights.
Emma Allchurch - Front of House Manager
After leaving school at 16 Emma soon made a career for herself with Lloyds Bank Plc. After 21 years service, based in several branches in and around Swansea and a brief spell in London Emma joined the team at the LC for a new challenge. Initially Emma started as Reception team leader and has progressed to Front of House Manager incorporating Reception and Core. She supports her teams in delivering outstanding customer service. Emma also manages the operation of large events at the LC including AGM's, staged events and exhibitions. Emma says of the LC ‘It’s a great place to work. The atmosphere is relaxed and we make sure the customer has as much fun as we do!’ She is married with 2 children.
Rachel Curtis - Waterpark and Cleaning Manager 
Rachel has worked in the leisure industry since 1998 in various leisure facilities across Neath Port Talbot and enjoyed being able to reach such a broad spectrum of different people. Rachel was the area manager of the Port Talbot leisure facilities until the Afan Lido fire forced redundancies. She then transferred her skills and experience to the LC. Rachel is now enjoying the opportunity to continue developing the best customer focussed team she has ever come across at the LC. She manages the LC Waterpark with its large team of lifeguards and cleaning. She is currently developing a Boardrider team to provide coaching and support to customers. She is newly married with one daughter and two step sons.
Dean Owens- Health, Fitness and Spa Manager
Dean has been a member of the LC team since the building reopened in 2008. He started as a Core Team Leader and most recently he worked as the Peak Team Leader but has now moved on to become the Health, Fitness and Spa Manager. Dean has fitted into the management team easily and is determined to keep the LC Gym running at a high standard, offering LC Gym members more than just a gym. Fitness is his passion and Dean has made it his goal to help people achieve their goals and improve their lifestyles on a day to day basis. Despite his busy schedule Dean is maintaining his training and fitness, he will be taking a hands on approach to his role and will continue as an instructor for LC circuit and spin classes. Dean is engaged and is a keen Rugby fan.
Bay Leisure Team
Richard Proctor - Chief Executive 
Richard is an honours graduate who has over 20 years of experience in the leisure industry in public, private and PLC organisations. Richard has worked with Fitness For Industry, Pace Fitness (Australia) and Cannons Health & Fitness. At David Lloyd Leisure (at the time part of Whitbread PLC) Richard was General Manager, a Regional Director and then latterly Head of Business Change. He is married with 3 children. Richard says "At Bay Leisure We are focused on trying to deliver outstanding service and great value for money. We have assembled a great team of people to help us deliver this at the LC. We have achieved Investors in People and an excellent first time "Quest" quality standard score, which demonstrates our commitment to our people and high standards of operations. David Evans – Chief Financial Officer
David is a law graduate who is also a qualified chartered accountant. He began his career with Coopers & Lybrand in London before becoming the Financial Accountant of HTV Plc, covering their media operations throughout Wales and the West. David’s most recent position was as the Finance Director of the Bassetts chain of car dealerships. David says of the LC "Transforming Bay Leisure Ltd (BLL) from a blank piece of paper into a thriving company with a turnover of £4m and over 120 staff has been a huge, but rewarding challenge. My principal objective is to ensure that BLL is run in a financially sound and successful manner". David is married with 2 children.
Anthony Jones - Maintenance Manager
Born some time in the sixties Anthony has always lived in or close to Swansea. Anthony started his working career in the coal mines, as an electrical apprentice in 1979 and left the mining industry in 1988 just before the major pit closures took place. Since then he's worked for companies such as Robert Bosch, Alberto culver, L’Oreal, and Pure Wafer in Swansea, in maintenance / management roles. Anthony says "I started at the LC just before the opening as the Maintenance Manager and have found it to be both a challenging and rewarding position. Anthony is married with 3 daughters one nine, and 5 year old twins. Anthony also has an interest in classic cars. He owns a number of classics mainly from the sixties and seventies era’s, and is currently preparing a 1967 Ford Cortina for racing. Anthony hopes to compete next year.
